The Annual Print Portfolio, which began in 1985, is one of the oldest traditions of the Corcoran College of Art and Design. It reflects not only who we are as students, teachers, and as artists, but also the times we live in. We want to capitalize on this moment by commemorating the place and the people who are the Corcoran.

The Portfolio has a rich history, and for the past 29 years groups of outstanding students and faculty have organized to make prints which have shown in galleries all over D.C. The portfolio has been a showcase for the many types of print media taught and practiced at the Corcoran, including etching, lithography, screenprinting, letterpress, and woodcut, to name a few. Themes have ranged from “Recipes for Disaster” to “You Won’t Believe Your Eyes,” to this year’s theme, “Forever,” a postage stamp.

As a final farewell and celebration of the experiences at this historic institution, 40 stakeholders in the Corcoran have contributed prints to the Portfolio. Participants include current students, faculty, and staff, and for the first and only time - key alumni, featured guests, and former faculty. The postage stamp has a rich history of commemorating events and people, as this portfolio will commemorate the legacy of the Corcoran.
