With an eye for recording how we travel through structured spaces, Franz Jantzen (American, born 1964) draws our attention to our own impact upon architecture and the environment.

He has documented natural wonders, relics of industry, architectural spaces, and historic sites, all toward creating an enveloping dialogue with the subject or object of the camera. Jantzen began experimenting with digital photography in 2004, developing a method of mapping and cataloguing space, then combining many hundreds or thousands of images into a whole. The resulting works cross the line between painting and photography. His work has been exhibited nationally and is included in numerous public and private collections including the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, TX, The Ogden Museum of Southern Art, New Orleans, LA, the Folger Shakespeare Library, Washington DC, and the Washington Post Corporation.
