MAX HIRSHFELD
Looking at Looking
The exhibition presents images that Max Hirshfeld captured while walking through the galleries of the National Gallery of Art. The photographs capture museum visitors engaged in the act of looking at artwork. By operating in the same space as the viewers, Hirshfeld creates an intimate portrait of how people engage with and experience the museumís masterpieces, each in a unique, personal way.

JACOB KAINEN
1939–1949
The exhibition presents a selection of Jacob Kainenís paintings, works on paper and etchings from 1939–1949. Much of the work from this period is characterized by his move from New York City to Washington, DC in 1942 and marks Kainenís shift into abstraction.
