FRANZ JANTZEN
Manifest Order
Franz Jantzen's unique assemblages are the products of a practice much like that of a cartographer. Using a digital camera to carefully document a single plane from a constantly shifting perspective point, Jantzen assembles the hundreds of resulting images to create an image of the whole. Jantzen has documented McSorley's Bar in New York City and the vast barrel-vaulted ceiling of the Uline Arena ceiling in Washington, DC, among other sites, both historical and everyday.

MARTIN KOTLER
The Concrete Series
Martin Kotler turns his attention toward the grittier side of Washington DC's rapidly transforming urban landscape. Depicting sites in and around construction zones and factories, Kotler employs the plein air technique resonant of his earlier work. He captures the cement mixers, dump trucks and rock crushers that inhabit this alternative landscape, recalling the American industrial landscape that fascinated Charles Sheeler in the first part of the 20th century.
